Breast Surgery

Greater than 300,000 women in the US underwent breast augmentation in 2015. The majority of women seeking enlargement request a breast size which is balanced for their body type. However, there are patients who request very large implants. Either of these may be accomplished if the patient's anatomy will accomodate it. From 1992 to 2006, the only implants available for breast augmentation in the US were saline (salt water) implants. Silicone implants once again became available in November, 2006. Both types of implants are very safe. Approximately 90% of my patients choose silicone implants. Implants may be placed below or above the pectoralis (chest) muscle. They may be placed through an incision below the breast, around the nipple, or in the axilla (armpit).
